Life Coach Madison WI Group Coaching for Caregivers

GROUP COACHING FOR CAREGIVERS

This program focuses on helping caregivers improve their mental, physical and emotional health by digging into mindfulness, meditation, self care and relationships — including the relationship they have with themselves, and the people they care for.

The group setting allows participants to learn from, and also support, each other in a safe space that’s free of judgement.

That said, we do not give advice. Instead, we share personal experiences and insights, and ask thought-provoking questions to help each person in the group clarify for themselves how to proceed, and find their own answers.

Discussions are driven by participants, so each group coaching session is unique. That said, some of the recurring topics that arise include how to …

  • Reduce burnout & stress
  • Boost resilience
  • Learn to observe one’s thoughts & emotions, manage them more effectively, and be less overwhelmed by them
  • Implement sustainable, customizable self-care strategies for improved mental, physical and emotional health
  • Better understand what resilience is, and how to develop practices that help strengthen resilience (and overall wellbeing) in sustainable ways
  • Use simple breath techniques as a tool to release stress and increase consciousness
  • Meet yourself where you are, without judgement, and improve your wellbeing
  • Understand that thoughts & emotions are things we experience — they are not who we are
  • Manage negative self talk
  • Identify and let go of resistance, while learning how to practice acceptance more often
  • Practice mindfulness to lessen distraction and be more in the moment
  • Incorporate the “yes, and” philosophy into your personal & professional lives, providing you with a solutions-based approach to any situation

HOW A GROUP COACHING SESSION WORKS

Larger Groups (more than six participants)

  • Sessions are 2-3 hours in length
  • We’ll begin with a brief discussion of caregiver-centric topics, as well as some time for myself and participants to ask questions and identify topics for further discussion.
  • In larger groups, some of the participants will have time to share their situation, or present a specific challenge.
  • This is followed up with feedback from other participants and myself. The feedback focuses on asking questions and/or sharing relevant experiences that pertain to one or more of the things brought to light by a participant.
  • As feedback occurs, there is the opportunity for follow up questions and comments from the participant who has shared their story to the group, which may prompt further discussion.
  • The idea is to make the experience more of a dialog, as opposed to a structured one-to-many presentation.

Smaller Groups (up to 6 participants)

In addition to all of the above mentioned items, the structure of smaller groups is as follows:

  • Depending on the size of your group, each session will be 2-3 hours in length.
  • We’ll begin with a 10-minute group introduction.
  • Followed by individual 3-minute introductions from every participant.
  • Next, each participant gets up to 12 minutes to share (challenges, concerns, life situation, etc.) in more detail before receiving feedback from the group.
  • This work often produces a handful of major themes that can be further discussed.
